In our hallway we have a bench so that anyone who needs to sit down to put on or take off their shoes can do so comfortably. This bench is reclaimed from a bedframe - notice the headboard is the back of the bench. The skull is something we added on to the bench to make it fit our decor a bit better than the little floral type of scroll work that was there before.
